Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Lectrix collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Lectrix, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

Lectrix (“Lectrix”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a study-tracking application for exam preparation, operated as an independent project by an individual founder based in India. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@lectrix.app.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account information (via Google Sign-In). When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google profile picture. We use this to create and secure your account.
• Study data you create. The subjects, faculty, lectures, parts, topics, target dates, schedules, streaks, and completion progress you add or generate while using Lectrix.
• Payment-related information. When you pay for Lectrix, we receive confirmation of your payment and record that your account has paid (such as the amount, date, method, and an optional note). Payments made manually via UPI are confirmed through a messaging channel such as WhatsApp (for example, a UPI transaction reference or screenshot). Where payments are processed through a third-party payment gateway, that provider handles your payment details directly. In all cases, we do not collect or store your card details, bank account numbers, or UPI PIN.
• Notification data. If you choose to enable push notifications, your browser provides a device subscription token that lets us send study reminders. You can disable this at any time.
• Technical and usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and backend providers automatically log basic technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps, for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
• Signed-in devices. For each device you sign in on, we record its approximate city and its browser when you sign in, and show them to you in Settings under “Where you’re signed in” so you can recognise a device and sign it out. This is removed when that sign-in ends.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the service — saving and displaying your subjects, schedule, and progress.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To grant and manage access after a payment has been confirmed.
• To send study reminders and notifications you have opted into.
• To respond to your messages and provide support.
• To maintain, debug, and improve the product.
• To protect against fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

4. Google user data

Lectrix’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We only request basic profile information (your name, email, and profile picture) for the sole purpose of creating and authenticating your account. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it for advertising.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers that help us operate Lectrix, and only as needed:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and backend infrastructure.
• Vercel — application hosting and delivery, and cookie-free counts of page visits.
• Sentry — error monitoring: when something breaks, a technical report of the error, the page, and your browser.
• Google — sign-in / authentication.
• Cloudflare — domain, DNS, and security.
• Resend — transactional email (e.g. account-related messages), where used.
• Messaging platforms (e.g. WhatsApp / Meta) — to coordinate access and payments and to provide support.
• Payment processors / gateways — to process payments and subscriptions, where an automated payment gateway is used.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the service.

6. Cookies and local storage

Lectrix uses no advertising, tracking, or third-party cookies, so there is nothing for you to accept or reject. Here is everything it keeps in your browser:

• Sign-in cookies (strictly necessary). Set by our authentication provider, Supabase, to keep you signed in. Lectrix cannot work without them. If you untick “Remember me” when you sign in, they are deleted when you close your browser; signing out removes them from that browser.
• Local storage on your device. Your preferences (such as light or dark mode and your chosen theme), which tips and walkthroughs you have already seen, and a copy of your study data so the app keeps working offline. It stays on your device and is not a cookie.
• Cookie-free analytics. Vercel Web Analytics counts page visits without setting cookies or following you across other websites.
• Error reports. Sentry receives a technical report when something breaks. It sets no cookies, and session recording is switched off.

You can clear cookies and site data at any time in your browser’s settings. If you do, you will need to sign in again, and the offline copy of your data is rebuilt the next time you are online.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, basic payment records) to comply with legal obligations.

8. Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent you have given. To make a request, email support@lectrix.app. You can also revoke Lectrix’s access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

9. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and database access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Lectrix is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

11. International processing

Your information may be stored and processed in India and in other countries where our service providers operate. By using Lectrix, you consent to such processing.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of Lectrix after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
